RGC Manager
Unified data landscape across the entire production route
The RGC-Manager imports and evaluates measurement results of different "Roll Gap Checker" (RGC) from the most renouned suppliers. With the help of the measurement data of the RGC, the current alignment of the strand guide of a continuous casting line is determined. Misalignments of the segments as well as the segment rolls can be visualized and be evaluated. The RGC-Manager is the basis for the module "Alignment Manager".

Rule-based quality and process evaluation
The Alignment Manager adds up on the RGC Managers functionalities. The Alignment Manager calculates the maximum strain on the strand shell based on the misalignment of the segments/rollers within the strand guide (measurement data coming from RGC), the impact of bulging as well as the impact of the bending and straightening zone.
In addition, the calculated strand shell strain can be compared in the "Alignment Manger" with the maximum permissible critical strain for a strain group (depending on the material properties) and global casting parameters. With this comparison, a tendency statement can be made about possible quality problems due to the previously mentioned influencing factors.

Shim Manager
Find the best alternative order for downgraded coils
Through the SMS Group's innovative algorithm, the Shim Manager ensures top-tier quality and attainment of quality benchmarks. Central to this solution is a powerful simulation capability. When quality issues arise at a certain caster segment of a slab solving not necessarily calls for an entire segment replacement. With a slight shim adjustment a priliminary solutions can stabilize production without stopping production. Shim Manager suggests according shim adaptions and subsequently runs simulation, validating their viability. Users can also save their own inputs and algorithms in the system. The Shim Manager learns from customer behaviour and generates appropriate recommendations.
